Hope you remember about an e-mail circulated few years ago rumoring about some giant skeletons found in a desert. I first saw the news on a local tabloid. As soon as I got a chance to connect to the internet, I searched for it and found it's a hoax. Then I had an argument with the friend who gave me that tabloid. He was mentioning that the news couldn't be wrong since it was on a famous weekly tabloid issued with a leading national newspaper.

Recently I saw another article on a newspaper mentioning about an alien body which was kept in a refrigerator for two years by an old woman. I searched for the news on the net and found it too as a fraud.

And yet, after realizing it's a fraud, I re shared it!

  3. Sharing is fine! If it isn't for sharing, the whole concept of online community will fail partially. But one should keep in mind that sharing everything without reasoning will be a matter too. After all it's up to the individual concern.

Yes R madam I did shared a thing. And I will. That's just because I like things like that. But the site I shared was not just saying the fact. There were some nice explanations about those kind of situations! Actually it was explaining the scenario in a more acceptable method.

  5. Awesome.. You made an excellent point.. However, the cons of unmitigated "sharing"s is a lil more than just "making you look like an idiot".. It CONSUMES CYBERSPACE.. All (or most) data of our online activities are saved in Server Farms, which although enormous, have LIMITED capacity and infrastructure.. When Billions of idiots share things unnecessarily up to extend that can be regarded spam, they can easily get overwhelmed, i feel :)

  6. Thanks Thambu! Well, I'm exactly not aware of how sharing works on servers or how it consumes resources. But I think sharing/re-sharing in those community based sites is not much consuming since those sites and services are built on that purpose. As I mentioned in an earlier comment, the decision is up to the concern of individuals. However since people are different, they share what they like and hence everything is being shared.

Also if someone shares things annoyingly he'll be spammed! ;-)
